With Jim Schwartz (“a madman who can barely stay on the sidelines”) and Ndamukong Suh (“wanted for murder in 11 states”) leading the charge, the Lions and their fans have discovered a brand new swagger … one that just may transcend winning and losing:

To be honest, I’m not sure that highlighting murders in Detroit is going to have the desired effect of boosting tourism in the state … ya know, since they’ve had a bit of a problem with that, and all.

Fortunately for us, the guys over at comedy troupe Landlocked Pioneers put together this spoof video of Orton bidding a fond farewell to Denver, with a dead ringer playing the role of a surly, beer-swilling Kyle … who is also clearly hurting inside:

And living in Colorado, I can tell you that they nailed the local references to IKEA and the DIA “demon horse”. Awesome.

This hilarious Lethal Weapon 3 poster spoof – with Chad Ochocinco, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick playing the roles of Danny Glover, Mel Gibson and Joe Pesci, respectively - is apparently the new avatar for Ochocinco’s Twitter account.

Good stuff, but this new partnership hasn’t exactly proved to be “lethal” so far. Unfortunately for Chad, it seems as though he’s spending way more time on Twitter than he is studying the Patriots playbook, netting just 11 catches for 201 yards and 0 touchdowns this year. And while it’s definitely cool, let’s not pretend that Chad actually tried his hand at photoshop and created this masterpiece himself … I’m guessing it’s a piece of fan art from one of his nearly 3 million (!!!) followers.

As much positive spin as there seems to be coming from the NFL labor negotiations of late, we’re still just over two weeks from when training camps are scheduled to begin, and we’re still sitting around waiting for some real news, with no football in site.  So, in our latest installment of “laughing to keep from crying over the whole nightmare”, we bring you this opus from the good folks over at Funny or Die: Field of Dreams 2: NFL Lockout Edition.

In the trailer for this fake sequel (which is more-than-plausible, and in fact looks better than half of the crap being spewed out in in today’s originality-bereft Hollywood, where bastardizing the best movies of my childhood seems to be the only idea left … ahem. Sorry, minor rant there), Twilight‘s Taylor Lautner appears alongside Kevin Costner, Ray Liotta and Dennis Haysbert, as the man who welcomes the disenfranchised NFL’ers into his cornfield, spurred on by the voices in his head. Ray Lewis, Tony Gonzalez, DeSean Jackson, Antonio Cromartie, Steve Smith (NYG) and a litany of other NFL players (who currently have nothing better to do) come to Iowa rekindle the magic and purity of the game in the National Corn League … at least until the lockout finally ends and the money comes calling, that is:

And if you enjoyed watching Lautner get drilled by Ray Lewis as much as we did, you can experience it over and over again – along with some other fun insights – in this behind-the-scenes look at the making of the trailer.

The ad itself is a pretty decent spoof of “The Office”, with Vick as the newest member of the car dealership’s staff … so there’s a subtle tip of the cap to Terry Tate, “office linebacker“ in there as well. And although the dealership’s GM was initially hesitant about casting a former dog murderer in the spot, so far the response from customers has been overwhelmingly positive.

Watch for yourself, and be on the lookout for a DeSean Jackson cameo:

Too bad they couldn’t get Tashard Choice to come in and ask for an autograph, huh? Oh, and although decent, this video still isn’t nearly as good as the Office spoof the Kansas City Chiefs did last year.

For what it’s worth, USA Today reports that Vick wasn’t paid for the gig, but “he does get the free use of a customized Nissan Armada worth $54,000″.

Earlier this year, the Chiefs posted this parody of The Office to their home page, and as much as I was expecting to hate it, it’s actually pretty funny … plus, the Pam is super-cute:

This week, with the Chiefs riding low at 1-7, the front office has sent Larry Johnson packing, and set their comedic sights on 30 Rock.  Seems like a perfect plan to get things turned around! They’ve gone so far as to post the video as the first thing anyone sees when they visit the Chiefs’ home page.  And while it’s not quite as good as The Office, it’s still pretty well done.
