Jeremy Shockey scoffs at LeBron James’ football-playing abilities
There has been a lot of chatter recently about the notion that LeBron James could somehow help the Cleveland Browns on the football field this season. In fact, earlier this week, James said that he could be “really good” if he put his time & energy into it, and the Browns (seemingly jokingly) even entertained the idea of bringing him on board. And who could blame them, right?
Well, don’t try to feed any of that jive to Jeremy Shockey! The Saints TE made his feelings on the subject clear via his Twitter account earlier today. saying that James couldn’t “even make a practice squad”, and calling out his 40 time as proof. Now, we’re not sure why Shockey feels so threatened by King James, but it makes for good blog fodder on a slow work day, and that’s good enough for us!
UPDATE: Giants’ WR Steve Smith has weighed in on his Facebook page, saying that he wouldn’t want to have to defend James. Of course, Smith plays offense. So he somehow managed to make this even more of a moot point. Way to go, Steve.
As we previously noted, James was an All-State WR in high school, and Randy Moss even suggested that he could be a better pro than Antonio Gates. Continue reading after the jump for the latest ESPN segment that got Shockey so fired up.
Shockey Rushed to Hospital from Vegas Pool Party

So this is the off-season training program that kept Shockey from attending workouts with the Giants?!? Got it. (Photos: TMZ)
Updated with Photos (5/25, 12:35pm ET)
TMZ has obtained these photos of Shockey at “Rehab” (the ironically named pool at the Hard Rock), right before he went down.

Breaking news from Las Vegas tonight, as Saints TE Jeremy Shockey was rushed to the hospital and treated for dehydration, after passing out at pool party at the Hard Rock Hotel earlier this afternoon.
According to a report by the entertainment Web site TMZ, Shockey was found unconscious at around 2 p.m. at the Hard Rock Hotel and taken to a nearby hospital.
Sources at the hotel told TMZ that Shockey was at Rehab — the name of the Sunday pool party at the Hard Rock. The call went out to the Las Vegas Fire Department, and he was taken out via stretcher.
Paramedics tried to cover him up so onlookers — including a TV camera crew — couldn’t ID him.
A spokesman for the Saints said that Shockey was treated for hydration and released, and is apparently “in good shape”.
It’s good to hear that he’s okay, but Shockey is clearly not it good off-season partying shape. There are strict guidelines that go along with daytime drinking to maximize party longevity, and allow you to make it to the real party later that night. I mean … 2pm, dude?!? Come on!!! Unless he was up from the previous night partying with Vegas strippers and hadn’t slept at all (which is a very real possibility), there’s just no excuse for passing out that early. I hope somebody at least wrote on his face before they carted him out of there.
J.V. move, Jeremy. J.V.
