Rookie Mini-Camps this weekend!

BJ Raji looks GOOD in Packer Green!
Rookie Mini-camps started yesterday, and get underway for a lot of NFL teams today. So we’re getting our first look at the draftees in uniform, finding out what numbers they’ll wear in the pros, and which veterans care enough to show up … and that’s about it.
There’s not really much to be determined from non-contact drills, except for how well these guys deal with the press, and whether or not they can start to understand the playbook.
NFL FanHouse has a couple of good Mini-Camp overviews:
- Friday’s Mini-Camp Tidbits, with a great photo album of rookies in their NFL unis
- Saturday’s Spin Around the Mini-Camps, including a look at where the QB whose name we shall not speak could land
USC Players cleared by NFL Doctor
Yahoo! Sports reports that neither USC linebacker Brian Cushing nor Clay Matthews III tested positive for banned substances, including steroids, and both players were cleared by the doctor who administers the NFL policy on performance-enhancing drugs.
A statement issued by the NFL says:
“Neither the 32 clubs nor the league office know the results of drug or steroid tests taken at the 2009 combine,” the statement read. “The independent medical advisors who administer the tests have notified in writing those players and only those players who tested positive at the combine.”

Cushing & Matthews - plenty of clean urine to go around at USC
Shockingly, Cushing’s agent Tom Condon is furious about previous reports that his client had tested positive for steroids, and is doing everything he can to restore his prized client’s draft status.
This news also calls into question a similar report that Boston College DT BJ Raji had tested positive for marijuana.
Well, I feel better now. At least we know that the masking techniques used at major universities are working as intended.
UPDATE: NFL Informs BJ Raji he didn’t fail combine drug test
Ummm … looks like the guys over at NFLdraftbible.com have some ‘splaining to do, after wrongly accusing 3 players of having failed drug tests.
ALERT: BJ RAJI tests postive for POT
It’s been discovered that Boston College’s BJ Raji tested positve for marijuana at the combine. Maybe he’ll be the next Warren Sapp.
