By now, we’ve all seen the commercials for DirecTV’s NFL Sunday Ticket. They’re everywhere.
The spots feature Deion Sanders, joined this season by Peyton & Eli Manning, as tiny fairy versions of themselves, spreading the gospel of the Sunday Ticket. And while the concept itself is fairly ridiculous, the campaign has allowed its stars to show off their considerable comedic chops.
As these outtakes demonstrate, while making the commercials, the guys were given a lot of freedom to improvise on the set … and as usual, Peyton’s dry humor shines here.
Our favorite moments are when he gives Deion a hard time for his fashion choices on the cover of his 1994 CD (“Prime, I love the crew vest, nothing underneath it. It’s genius, it’s brilliant. It’s aggressive … but it’s genius.”), and Peyton making excuses for why Eli couldn’t be there (“bad oysters … trust me, you don’t want to hear about it”).

On opening night of the 2012 NFL Season, this video from The NOCÂ - which pretty much nails the stereotypes for every team’s fan base in about 3 seconds each – seemed fitting.
Some are funnier and more accurate than others, but they save the best (or worst, as it were) for last with the Patriots fans.
Via Reddit/r/nfl comes this photo of one Steelers fan’s remarkable new tattoo, and … well … let’s just let the picture speak for itself:
No words … They should’ve sent a poet.
Apparently, this work of art was created by this tattoo artist named Brian (of “Brian’s Tattoos” in central PA), who actually has a history of inking people with his child-like drawings, without one hint of intended irony. He even posted this image to Facebook as an example of his “work”, and Brian adamantly defends his portfolio (his other tattoos are equally inspiring) against anyone who dares to hate. One glance at his Facebook page, and you immediately realize that Brian is either the most delusional, meth-addled tattoo artist in history, or is playing a huge joke on everyone.
Let’s hope it’s the latter, but either way, I feel badly for Brian’s poor subjects, who have to live with this “art” on their bodies for the rest of their lives.

We all know that Pete Carroll likes to keep things loose around his team throughout training camp, and even has a history of playing practical jokes on his players during team meetings. Â So when the Seahawks signed Terrell Owens earlier this week, coach Carroll couldn’t resist the opportunity to have a little fun with his new lightning rod.
Watch below as Carroll calls Owens to the front of the team meeting room to share a personal story, only to be told to sit down by the coach and rest of the players as he’s getting started. At first it looks as though Owens is being punked, but T.O. then flips the script, telling the team that he really, really wants his old #81 (now belonging to Golden Tate), and was told it would be available before his signing.
What follows is an tremendously awkward moment for everyone in the room … and fortunately for us, Caroll decided to record it all and post the video to YouTube (stick with it):
[H/T Around The League]
First off, apologies for our extended programming hiatus here at ReadAndReact … June and July can be a pretty bleak time of year for NFL fans, and we decided we needed to take the Summer off to re-charge our batteries (and also not burn ourselves out on random top 10 lists and player DUI posts). But now that August is here and training camps are kicking off around the country, we’re back, and fired up for the impending season.
Free agent DT Anthony “Spice” Adams – who was released by the Bears in February after 5 years with the team -  has also been using the summer months to catch up on some life maintenance. The 32-year-old Adams has yet to latch on with a new ball club for 2012, and fortunately for us, he used his downtime to create this hilarious “Stuff NFL Free Agents Say” video.
Adams might be a little bit late to the party on the whole “Stuff _______ Say” trend, which has been played out for a while, but here Adams delivers in a big way. While waiting for that fateful call from an NFL team, among other things, Adams has been practicing his swim move on his baby, brushing up on his video game skills (BANG BANG!), watching the waiver wire like a hawk, putting off his diet until next week, fretting about the power bill, and of course, playing words with friends. Â It’s a bit long at over 5 minutes, but trust us, it’s worth it:

While we were away, Giants QB Eli Manning made his live comedy debut, hosting Saturday Night Live to mostly positive reviews.
Thanks to the wonders of technology, I was able to watch the show on DVR, and I mean, it wasn’t like Eli was the funniest host the show has ever seen, but it was definitely one of the better episodes of the season (for whatever that’s worth). Â He was relatively loose and self-effacing, and pulled off quite a few genuine laughs throughout the night … particularly once he managed to relax and slow down a little bit. It certainly wasn’t the train wreck I was expecting it could turn into, and once again Eli did alright following in the footsteps of his older brother.
One of the better moments came during a fake motion capture session at EA Sports for their Madden franchise, where Manning is asked to perform a touchdown celebration for the game. Eli responds with a series of bizarre maneuvers, ranging from hugging himself to drinking water to girlishly throwing a grenade – the last of which was hilarious in its execution. Ultimately, Eli decides on his ideal signature celebration: making a sandwich, dropping it on the ground and looking around sheepishly before picking it up and eating it.
Well, someone over at EA Sports apparently enjoyed getting the SNL treatment, and decided to animate Eli’s sandwich celebration for real, posting it to Youtube on Tuesday. And aside from the fact that he’s wearing a Patriots uniform, it’s pretty excellent:
SNL writer Sarah Schneider was apparently thrilled at the tribute to her sketch. We can only hope that the gang at EA Sports actually includes this celebration in the game, if only as an easter egg of some sort.

Cleveland superfan Mike Polk, Jr -Â previously of the epic “Factory of Sadness” rant -Â Â recently received a note from his beloved Browns franchise, reminding him to send in payment for his 2012 season tickets.
This is his response:

The New York Jets introduced Tim Tebow as their backup quarterback today, which means that the circus has officially rolled into town for Rex Ryan & Co.
The anonymous player quotes and speculation as to whether Tebow will compete for starting time with the newly re-upped Mark Sanchez have already begun, and we’re months away from the start of training camp. Â Just wait until Jets nation gets a real taste of Tebowmania …
For his part, let’s just say that Tebow is “excited” to be a Jet. Â In fact, let’s let Timmy say it … a total of 44 times during his 30-minute session with the media:

Yup … pretty much. Â Except replace “me” with “the Broncos”, since Timmy probably won’t be sticking around for whatever happens next in Denver.
Jimmy Kimmel has gained some internet notoriety recently by challenging his viewers to pull cruel and unusual pranks on their children, video tape the results and post them to YouTube. The resulting “I told my kids I ate all their Halloween candy” and “I gave my kids a terrible present” were hilarious. Downright mean, but hilarious.
Well, for Super Bowl Sunday, Kimmel set his sights on the adults of America, challenging folks to unplug their television set during a crucial moment of the game (preferably at a large viewing party), and record the reaction for our viewing enjoyment. Predictably, the prank was not very well-received … but surprisingly, no severe beatings or hospitalizations were reported:
