Does Calvin Johnson look happy to you?
The Detroit Lions unveiled a “new comprehensive brand” today, including an updated logo and uniforms. Team president Tom Lewand had this to say at the totally awesome press conference:
“We are undergoing an organizational transformation right now,” said Lewand at the unveiling. “It’s not just about those 53 guys competing on Sunday afternoon.
Apparently they added muscles to the lion. Sweet.
“It’s about changing a culture within our organization and within our community that says, ‘We are going to do this the right way and we are going to start from the ground floor and we’re going to build a championship football team that year-in and year-out the people of the City of Detroit can be proud of.’ This is our representation of that.”
Uh huh. Okay Tom. How ’bout you worry about not screwing up the draft this weekend. We’re supposed to believe that a new 5/8″ black stripe on the calf of the socks is going to turn Detroit’s fortunes around?
Calvin Johnson is an amazing talent dying in an NFL wasteland.
